An outside Human resource company was hired to update our employee handbooks and company policies. This is the first year that health insurance has been offered to hourly field personnel. Recruiting and retention has always been an issue in the construction industry. With employment in Colorado at an all time high, and the construction industry enjoying continued growth, we are challenged in our efforts to attract and retain workers in our industry. We offer a fair wage, and opportunity to earn a bonus, and benefits which meet the needs of employees. Currently we have 17 field employees who have been with the company for over a year. Current management and staff employees average 3 to 5 years of employment history. We conduct weekly staff luncheons at which we discuss staffing needs, equipment needs, material requirements, current bidding schedule, current projects status in addition to open discussion about specific employee needs. We conduct weekly jobsite meetings and discuss schedule, quality, and safety issues. We hold monthly superintendent meetings and discus safety, manpower, and equipment. All of these meetings are a forum to train employees, state and develop new policy, and hear from our employees. We offer and encourage training and development of our employees After each successful bid, a budget is set up for an upcoming new project. The budget is then entered into our accounting software system, CCAS, where all cost can be tracked through out the duration of the project. Wwe track labor costs on a weekly basis, and overall project costs monthly. We conduct monthly audits of our accounts. The company's fiscal year end is November 30, and conduct yearly audited financial statement and tax returns. Our accounting department consists of a Controller, an Accounting Manager, and an accounts payable clerk. all of which is managed by Joe Bosco. Although Bosco Constructors, Inc. is predominately a hard dollar competitive bid contractor, and obtain the majority of our work in the public sector, we are currently developing a marketing plan by which we will differentiate ourselves from our competition. We are pursing private and industrial work and engaging in profile raising activities such as developing a presence on the internet. We feel that this will be a way to market to a whole new variety of prospects and to attract new employees. We will provide up-to-date information on our company including: employment opportunities, current projects, projects out for bids, as well as a company newsletter. Long term goals have always been a part of Bosco Constructors, Inc. continuing success story. whether it is plans for a new office building (now under construction), or an increase over the previous years revenues, Mr. Bosco knows the importance of setting realistic goals that are obtainable to help promote company morale when each one is met.
